We build low-temperature underfloor systems: panels, manifolds, room-by-room controls and pressure testing before the screed goes down. They work well with a condensing boiler and are at their best paired with a heat pump.

What an underfloor system includes
Installation in renovation work
Where there is little height available there are low-profile systems. It is assessed case by case: door heights, thresholds and the condition of the sub-floor.
Manifolds and room-by-room controls
Each room has its own circuit and actuator: you can set the bedroom without having to heat the whole house the same way.
Pairing with a heat pump
Underfloor heating runs at 30–35 °C instead of 60–70: that is the condition in which a heat pump really performs. If the heat source may also be replaced, this should be considered at the design stage.
Pressure test and commissioning
The system is put under pressure before the screed and monitored while it is poured: it is the only moment when a mistake can be put right without breaking anything up.

A gradual start-up cycle before the floor covering is laid, with the record that wood and tile fitters ask for.

What we look at before proposing it
Underfloor heating is not always the right choice: in some renovations, the cost is disproportionate to the benefit. We say so beforehand, not once work has started.
- The height available between the sub-floor and the finished level, and the thresholds to balconies and stairwells.
- The floor covering planned: porcelain, wood and resin have different thermal resistances.
- The insulation of the walls and the roof space: without insulation underfloor heating struggles to catch up.
- The current heat source and the temperature it runs at, or the one that will be installed.
- Where to put the manifolds so they stay accessible without dismantling furniture.
- Whether floor cooling is wanted in summer, with the humidity control that entails.
- How it works alongside any existing radiators in the areas where the floor is not being touched.

The part of the system that decides how the house will be heated for the next thirty years is only visible for a few days.
Frequently asked questions about underfloor heating
Can it be done in a house that is already lived in?
Yes, with low-profile systems, but it is still a building job: the floor has to come up, levels have to be checked and doors often need trimming. At the site visit we will say whether it is worth it.
How long before the floor covering can be laid?
It depends on the screed: after curing there has to be a gradual commissioning cycle, which normally means a few weeks between pouring and laying.
Does underfloor heating work with wooden floors?
We check that the wood is compatible with the underfloor system and with the manufacturer's instructions before it is laid: the boards must be certified for underfloor heating and the flow temperature must stay within the limits specified.
Does it cool in summer as well?
It can cool, but only with humidity control: without dehumidification there is a risk of condensation on the floor. That is a decision to take at design stage, not afterwards.
Does it consume less energy than a radiator system?
In the same house yes, because it runs at low temperature: the advantage grows a great deal when the heat source is a heat pump or a well-adjusted condensing boiler.
